PGLA uses Polyglactine 910, a synthetic absorbable copolymer composed of 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. This material is designed to combine strong tissue support, predictable absorption, and the excellent handling expected from a coated braided multifilament suture.
The coated braided structure supports soft passage through tissue with minimal sawing, tissue drag, and trauma. It also provides excellent flexibility, smooth tie down, precise knot placement, and secure knot performance.
PGA has long been a popular absorbable suture material, but PGLA offers the handling and performance advantages of Polyglactine 910 while maintaining excellent value. That is why we like to say:
PGLA is the better PGA — for the price of PGA!
BASIK® SMI AG PGLA Braided Absorbable Suture Cassettes may be compared to Surgicryl®, Polysorb®, Dexon®, Vicryl®, Safil®, and Novosyn®.
BASIK® SMI AG PGLA Suture Cassettes deliver the strong tissue support, smooth handling, predictable absorption, and secure knot performance professionals expect from Polyglactine 910 — at the practical value of PGA.
